A lot of people don’t know this, but Kars4Kids operates in Canada, too. But one day things got a little complicated when a possible donor called from an unusual location in the Land of the Maple Leaf. Josh Meyers, the customer service representative who took her call, ended up going the extra mile to find and pass along the information the potential donor had requested.
The way the story played out was definitely one for our customer service annals:
“A lady called and wanted me to call her back with the amount that she would get on her tax receipt for donating her car,” said Meyers. “When calling the number back, I discovered that she had called from a branch of the Pizza Pizza restaurant franchise in Canada, and since I didn’t have her name, it was going to be difficult to track her down.
He Called India!
“I initially spoke to the Pizza Pizza call center in India, and they refused to even take down the information for something like this. Then I managed to reach the main customer service office for Pizza Pizza in Canada. The representative I spoke to called a few departments and checked if there were any leads, but to no avail.
“I finally did a lookup in the Kars4Kids database and saw there was a second phone number for this potential donor, who apparently likes to eat pizza. The second number I found in the database did the trick and I finally managed to reach her,” Meyers said.
Did the woman end up donating her car? Not yet—though we’re hopeful.
Spreading the Word
In any event, our indefatigable customer service representative had a good laugh, imagining the puzzled faces of the Pizza Pizza people he spoke to in both India and Canada. And Meyers figures he did a great job of spreading the word about our car donation program in the country often referred to as “The True North Strong and Free.”
“Whether or not we end up picking up this Pontiac,” says Meyers, “one thing is for sure—the entire Pizza Pizza company now knows about Kars4Kids!
