Winter Driving “Must-Haves” List Pared Down to Bare Essentials

Winter driving
Many is the article plugging expensive "must-haves" for winter driving. This list is different, pared down as it is to basics to save you money, time and space during this and every winter.

Winter driving means difficult driving. Even if you’re used to driving in winter weather, the thought of dealing with icy roads and snow can be daunting and even scary. Most of us want to be prepared, to stock our cars with all the necessary items we might need in case of a winter driving emergency. The question we might ask ourselves is do we really need this or that costly item? It sure would be great to have some idea of what items are absolute must-haves.

The problem is, if you take a look at any of the popular websites for drivers and car aficionados, you can see any number of articles plugging expensive “must-haves” like hundred dollar snow socks and foldable shovels. Purchasing all the items these “experts” suggest, will not only quickly deplete your bank account, but take up lots of space that may not be readily available in your trunk and glove compartment.

How do you eliminate the chaff on these must-have lists? How do you know what you really need to have on hand in your car for winter driving emergencies when space in your car is at a premium? Kars4Kids went to Chicago native and car enthusiast Dov Epstein of Creative Solutions, to find out.
