Florida Dog Does Doughnuts (Or Should That Be Doughmutts?)

black Labrador Retriever in car

Max, a black Labrador retriever in Port St. Lucie, Florida, took a wild “spin” before police managed to stop the car with no resulting injuries to the daredevil dog. Neighbors had called police after noting that the dog seemed to be trapped in the unmanned vehicle, which was spinning circles in reverse, around a cul-de-sac.

Police believe Max’s owner may have stepped away from the still running car, and the pet must have knocked it into reverse. While Max was uninjured, one neighbor noted that as she watched out, the car destroyed first a mailbox and then a trash can.

The circular move that Max performed is called “doughnuts” and is more commonly associated with victorious racecar drivers, after winning a race.

Max did seem to feel as though he’d won a race of sorts, witness the fact that when the police finally managed to halt the moving vehicle (by punching a passcode into the driver’s door), the dog jumped out and wagged his tail.
