What an incredible day in East Orange New Jersey today. Clear skies, sunshine, beautiful warm weather, and a free coat distribution, days don’t get much better than that.
The Kars4Kids car donation coat giveaway with East Orange Councilwoman Sharon Fields kicked off under those wonderful conditions and everyone was in a great mood. Volunteers described the atmosphere as having “a street fair feel”, with good cheer all around.
The line stretched around the corner with over 600 coats distributed over about an hour and a half. All sizes coats were distributed so the crowd was made up of all age groups, genders and races. There were wonderful volunteers from East Orange on hand as well as Kars4Kids volunteers and the distribution went off smoothly and without a hitch.
The giveaway was the idea of East Orange Councilwoman Sharon Fields who reached out to Kars4Kids after hearing about the success of the of the Kars4Kids Newark coat giveaway with Mayor Cory Booker.
Kudos to all involved! here’s hoping that all those who received this year will be in the position to give next year.
